Identify Production Problems

Production problems are best analyzed by working backward from the result to the cause. The starting point is a metric that is deteriorating: lower output, more scrap, longer cycle times, more frequent breakdowns, or declining availability.

A pragmatic approach:

  1. Narrow Down the Time Period in "": When Will the Deviation Be Visible?
  2. Narrow Down the Asset: Which line, machine, or station is affected?
  3. Identifying the Type of Loss: Is it a matter of availability, performance, or quality?
  4. Select a log: Production Log, Status Log, Event and Alarm Log, or Process Data.
